Week 16 Day 4
Dear,
Future Me
Grade school has been a wild ride. From being friends with everybody, to feeling entirely alone, and now where I feel like I am friends with only genuine people. I learned so much: I learned about America and the rest of the world, Math and science; I even learned about myself and others. However, I have been enveloped into a single lifestyle – the American childhood.
I know that there is so much more out there to do, see, and live. Sure, I made district and almost state in the science fair. Sure, I won a scholarship for musical prospect. Sure, I have mastered the English language, and sure, I am thoroughly educated in both the historical and contemporary world. However, I believe that my past accomplishments are mundane in comparison to what I am capable of in the future. I know what I want to do and I have the means to doing so. Luckily, for me, life is a sandbox. I CAN be that intercontinental musical sensation. I can be an incredible singer. I can learn instruments. I can do whatever I want. It is just up to me if it happens.
Summarily, this letter acts as a pledge to myself – my future self – that I WILL put the work in. I will make you who you want to be. I am not doing this for glory, for money, or for fame. This is all simply in the name of self-fulfillment and that is just another reason why I will be who I want to be.
Wish me luck!
Lucas Lopez
