Week 5 Reflection 4

In class, we continued "The Fences". I played Lyons this time which was a nice switch up. I liked playing a personality as opposed to the narrator. Lyons is childish despite his age and he is nice to everybody. I relate to his musical aspirations too, but I am willing to put the work in toward it. I am planning on going to college for music production and audio recording.

Week 5 Reflection 3

We did illuminate testing today. I finished the thing very quickly as did most other people, leaving us with tons of free time. With this, I did homework for another class. I think the test was pretty simple and easy, but with it being 6 questions, one mess up would be killer.

Week 5 Reflection 2

Today, many people came in late. I don't understand why the metal detectors aren't set up in a more efficient way. Surely they could do those better. Class kind of ends up only being 40 minutes because of this. Anyways, we continued on the book. Troy is showing signs of cheating on his wife, but he seems so close to her. Unfortunate that so much of class is wasted by the entrance system.

Week 5 Reflection 1

In class, we started the play "Fences" and I took the part of the narrator. The characters seem funny and I find it strange how the narration is directly displaying the personality traits of it's people. For example, Bono is explicitly explained characteristically as a follower and good friend of Troy.

Week 4 reflection 3

In class, we were introduced to a book called fences that is about a family that is separated maybe because of communication or something else. We were given a preface to introduce the idea of a metaphorical fence and were tasked with thinking of metaphorical fences in my life. As somebody who has gone through a very long period of time of self reflection, i had a decent idea of what to put there.

Week 4 reflection 2

In class we talked about words that are offensive to people. Specifically, we got a poem about a time someone got called the n word in a place he was moving to for a while. We also got a reflection about a word that made us offended and we were tasked to continue the poem where we left off with a NARRATIVE. I really wanted to write poetry, but we were told to finish a poem with narrative writing. I found that to be disappointing, but the lesson overall was very solid.

Week 4 reflection 1

We got new students in class and while they were getting to know the teacher and all the stuff we did first week, i and several others made up the friday test. I enjoyed the smaller class, but it is hardly a burden. I feel very good about how i did on that test.

Week 3 reflection 4

I was not in class today.

Week 3 reflection 3

In class, we finished and analyzed the rock pile. There were many interpretations of the story and everybody got something different from it. Me personally, I took it as almost a reflection on the narrator’s life and maybe just sharing his personal experience growing up in a bad area.
